The importance of nutrition- The first 1000 days-
There is now such a strong level of evidence for the crucial role nutrition plays in pre pregnancy to the Childs second birthday that there is now a phrase for the period- The First 1000 days.
(However if we get really technical and nerdy on this we should update it to be the first 1090 days, but it just doesn’t have the same ring to it!)
From the time the women’s egg is getting ready to be released three months prior to ovulation nutrition can start to impact the health of the egg, uterine lining and chanced of successful pregnancy.
Nutrition in these first 1000 days of baby life, from conception to their second birthday influences their genetics and therefore future health.
By optimising nutrition in the womb and early life we can optimise the risk of chronic disease, immune function, mental health, problem solving skills and IQ.
